Calling All Artists!

CALLING ALL ARTISTS! We are looking for painters, photographers, artists, etc to help us with our fundraiser, Flavors on Main: A Progressive Dinner & Art Exhibit.

Are you an artist who likes to create for a cause? If the answer is yes, we need you!

On Friday, September 16, we will have our Art Exhibit on display at the coffeehouse. Guests will vote for their favorite work with money. The 10 art pieces that raise the most money will be the winners. All other entries will be returned to the artist. All proceeds/votes from all entries will be contributed to the organization.

If your work is a winning piece at our fundraiser, it will be displayed as a permanent piece at The Open Door Coffeehouse with a “feature description” and bio of artist.

We have a suggested theme of “IT TAKES A VILLAGE”. If you will be entering a piece in the exhibit, please private message us with contact info, type of art, bio of self. Please submit artwork to The Open Door Coffeehouse by September 14th.

We LOVE our teachers & We’re here to support their efforts!  What’s that African Proverb?…  “It takes a village to raise a child.”  And we believe we are a part of the village that is responsible for helping in raise productive members of society.

School is getting ready to start up again…and we are ready for action!  Ready to assist and help in the efforts of our teachers!  Ready to support them and the students however we can.

One of the ways we do this is by hosting a study club called WIRED.  WIRED is for 7th-12th grade students.  We provide students that are part of this club incentives to study, read and do homework at the coffeehouse!  We are also partnering with teachers and community members to build this program to guide and mentor students to be the best versions of themselves that they can be!

How do you get to be a part of WIRED?  Or wondering how to get your student involved?  The Open Door Coffeehouse will have opportunities to get more information and sign up at Mayville School’s Open Houses, the Middle School Literature Night, and at our WIRED Kick Off Party!

What?  A PARTY?!!!!  That’s right!

The WIRED KICK OFF PARTY, themed Bring the Milk Can Home will be sponsored by the MAYVILLE FOOTBALL PROGRAM on Friday September 9th.  Come to the coffeehouse to sign up for WIRED, get more information about the study program, get signed up for our WIRED Together Program, eat snacks and GET PUMPED UP FOR THE MAYVILLE vs LOMIRA football game!  MORE INFO TO FOLLOW!

We’re looking forward to a year of growth in our local students!
